Actually, that seems to be the common misconception. Aftermarket intakes will produce higher "peak" numbers. The GT40 will produce a more usable rpm range. A completely unported GT40 intake will generally produce more torque and power then a aftermarket intake till around 4800-5k rpm. From 5k+ after markets tend to have better numbers over a unported GT40. For a street car, GT40's are the perfect intake imo.
