Wiring Harnesses Interchange??
Hey Guys, here's my dillema, I just swapped a GT40 crate motor into my 92 fox....I pulled the motor from my wrecked 88 fox....I left the motor harness from the 88 on the motor. So everything is hooked up but car wont start....all my grounds are good....car get gas and spark. Motor is good.....she just cranks and cranks....I was wondering if I needed to use the 92 motor harness? I checked them and they looked the same (wire placement wise) but??? Your thoughts?
Thanks for the help.

have you moved any settings from when it was in the 88 and running??? also 88 was a speed density motor and 92 is mass air si not totally sure but wire harness on the motor may be a little different

I thought that Ford was real good about switching a few wires almost every year for their ECU's, try and get a diagram for an 88 maf car and for a 92 model maf car and compare the two diagrams.

1987-1993 Should have the same wiring harnesses. I went to AEM and looked up the ecm's they have there, and one was from 1987-1993. Maybe when you puled the motor something got disconnected? Or you didn't reconnect something?

RE: Wiring Harnesses Interchange??
I would use the 92' harnesses.....upper and lower! I do know that Ford changed the lower ego harness from 89 to 91....first hand experience. Could no keep the car running for than a few seconds. Ford changed 2 pin locations in it. One of the pins was #46, sensor signal feed return, bascially a ground circuit. The other pin was a 12+ volt. Well after putting a break out box on the car, testing, testing, burning a few A9L up, I figured it out! This was back in 94-95....I will never forget pin 46!!!! Good luck!

Yeah I kinda figured I should just swap the harness....Deng it....probably have to pull the upper intake to do it.....I actually used the 92 lower harness because the 88 one had a weird starter lead on it....it didnt have the other little wire that connects to the starter that goes to the starter relay.....Fuel is there.....spark is there.....maybe its something else? Here we go round 3.....LOL thanks guys

How did you verify that you were getting fuel and spark?
Good luck!
