So if i did away with the smog pump would i have any problems with emissions and how hard is it to remove?

not trying to steal the tread but what does the smog pump do and if you take it off what do you gain?
You gain a few ponies, less drag on the motor, a cleaner engine bay, less weight.

It is suppose to add clean add to the exhaust before the exhaust leaves the tailpipes, better air quality supposedly.
The solution to pollution is dilution.

I know for a fact that you can remove the smog pump, run 14 degrees timing, run 2 hi flow cats 2.5 inch exhaustand still pass with flying colors.
In CA that will get you a failure on the visual inspection. No matter what your car does on the sniffer, you'll get no certificate if you fail the visual. To the O.P., I think what will pass emissions varies by state to state and then from county to county.

i passed with my mod's but mine arert that extreme.

+1 on the visual, here they check under the hood to make sure all the smog stuff is hooked up
