i have heard that youcan use the 96 explorer heads in the 5.0s because they are the same at gt40 heads? and was wondering if they make much of a difference and the junk yard was saying that the upper/lower intake is also bigger? and along with the throttle body? anybody know if this is true or does it add much power? i can get heads, intakes, and tb for $350.

damn, 350? thats a steal! they make a hell of a difference, have the heads milled .020-.030 so you dont lose compression, the tb is 65 mm and will work with slight modification. intake flows about the same as the gt40. you better get it before its gone!!!!!!

yeah i gotta wait like two weeks until i get paid but it will still be there im calling the guy today and i buy alot of stuff from him so he is going to hold onto it for me if i want it. do i need to get it retuned or anything with putting all this on?

damn 350 is a good deal for a set of good heads and your getting the intake and tb


on another note what years of explorers can you get that top end from?

any year, but the 97 and up (i think) has the gt40p heads that make more power stock, but need special headers, or fancy sparkplug wire routing.

just an FYI.... you cannot use the exploder TB, the throttle cable bracket is on the wrong side

YOU CAN use the Explorer TB, it is not a direct bolt on. It is not that hard to swap out the link arm from the factory TB with the one on the Explorer... been there, done that, it works.
