clutch problems
when the car is running it sounds as though underneath the car there is a vibration noise but its not the exhaust... and when i put my car into gear it kinda hops and ****.. and if i downshift it hops and then catches but doesnt pop out of gear.. anyone know if the clutch is shot or throw out bearing.

RE: clutch problems
What do you mean by "hopes and catches" When you shift and raise the clutch does the RPMs rise then the car feels like it gets into gear?
I have problems with my tranny too. It gets very difficult to shift sometimes. Feels like I only have half the clutch in while shifting. I can feel the gears rub againts each other as I shift. I feel this in the stick.
Also when I am at a stop the clutch is all the way in. The car is fine. But when I am ready to go sometimes I have to shove the stick into gear otherwise it won't go into gear. Sometimes I have to release the clutch and then press it in again. Is this normal? When I lift the clutch it feels like i make it halfway up before the clutch grabs. When it grabs it is a little rougher than I like. Makes it feel like I can transistion smoothly out of a still position.
I checked my fluid level and it is fine. I think all the mounts are good. There is an adjustable clutch line on it but I haven't messed with it yet. I have been told that the pilot bearing (bushing?) is going out. Could this be? I have also been told that there might be some clutch fingers bent.
As far as the clutch i think it is fine because when I do a clutch test, Pop the clutch going 25mph and watching RPM or gunning it while in 2nd 3rd to make sure it is not slipping, it seems to hold solid.
Any help here too?

RE: clutch problems
Sounds like clutch chatter. That happens when you let go of the clutch (sometimes you can ride it forever and it still does it) and the car starts to shake until your speed or RPMs rise to a certain point.
This is usually caused by fatigued springs that can't push the plates together and they chatter with one another. Fatigues springs could be caused by too much heat generated from ridding the clutch or poor clutch adjustment.
If chatter lasts too long, then the surface of the clutch could become unevenly worn.
