Default problem with egr valve on a 95

Hey guys im having an issue with my egr when i added the few mods on my car and had the egr hooked up the car would idle ok but would run like total crap.So i bypassed the egr and it runs great but it idles at 900 instead of the 600 normally,so my question is,can it be a bad egr or do i just have it remapped and take it out of the loop or just deal with the high rpm,i dont know if you can run the idle back down to hear the chop on this yr mustang or not.So any info you guys have on this will be great thanks alot.

Check the EGR base plate for a vacuum leak. What the system does is simply not add spark advance to compensate for the exhaust gases injected by the EGR...... A/F, base and load based (NPI) tables are left intact.

Thanks alot bro i will give that a shot. Will it change anything if i decrease the idle to compensate for what the lack of a egr is doing,or will it effect my proformance?

600 RPM Idle [&:]750 is pretty standard for manual transmission and 800-850 is typical for auto tranny.

Maybe I missed something with the 5.0?

Egr is not operational or/function at idle....if it does then the pintle may be partially stuck open which will give you a rough base idle....think of it as introducing a vaccum leak at idle!!...all the egr is for is to quench the cylinder temps and lower them to avoid spark detonation/ knock/ ping...whatever you want to call it egr = exhaust gas recirculation
