Default I need mod help?

I have a 98% stock 89 gt, i have an egr spacer and a fenderwell cold air and i dont know what to do next i want to start making more power...recently got beat by a 08' civic SI , i chalk that up to a bad suspension and slipping clutch, anyway I am on i budget so any help would be great i really just need a place to start i dont want to lose to a car with the displacement of a bottle of soda again. Thanks in advanced for any help

2008 honda civic si 15.1 at 93.8-mph 1/4 mile not bad for a car with displacement of a bottle of soda(not to mention he owned yah LOL just kiddin)

1989 Ford Mustang GT 5.0l Manual 14.8 1/4 mile

there pretty close and the civic is brand new id start with the slipping clutch then a 3.73

5-speed or auto ?

gears and tires will knock 10 cars off if you do it right (about a second in the 1/4)

right = 4.10's and mickey thompsons

after that a bit of suspension will help, like hpm mega bite jr lca's

Heads and headers. Then if you want to get serious, go forced induction (supercharger or turbo). I LOVE boost. Every car should have it (IMHO) .

The new Civic SI's are surprisingly fast-ish for what they are and they can/will beat stock 5.0's. As stated above: Fix the clutch, get some good tires, gears. That will put you at a good advantage against the Civic. If you wanna blow his f*ckin doors off, along with what I said before, get: Longtube headers, O/R midpipe, catback, Trick Flow Intake, JLT CAI, and port your heads.. All he'll see is your tail-lights..

heres my 2 cents. h/c/i on the CHEAP can get you to the 270ish mark VERY easily. Gt40 heads, roller rockers, b303 cam is a very good setup, or the tfs1 cam if you would like. With those simple basic bolt ons, you will be able to take A LOT of cars on the road today, even if you are an automatic as am i.

Gears and Tires and a GOOD clutch. one all of that is done you never have to re-address it. plus you will set yourself apart form lots of "stockers"and nearly all four bangers.
