Default Why 5.0 have 2 oil drain plugs??

I want to know why there are 2 oil drain plugs? Also Iwonder is there a certain way you suppose to unscrew a cetain screw first, or both at the same time? The only thing i have heard about why it has 2 oild drain plugs, is because it is a U shaped. I want to know for myself, and my instructor for my mechanic class would also like to know too? If i can know as soon as possible i would appreciate it thanks.

Two sumps = two drain plugs. As for doing one before the other, I never gave it any thought.

Me either i just jack it up and unbolt the back one, seems to drain it all out since it takes 5 quarts to get it back up to level.

Thats what i been told, but the engine takes 5 quarts and when i only drain the back, it takes a whole 5 to get to level, so i dont see all that much being left in there.

well then i guess its a good thing those drops left are synthetic, especially when its jacked up in the front to the point where any oil would drain to the back.

There's two plugs to screw with our heads. Am I the only one who missed the back drain plug on the first oil change?

my first oil change on my first car, 1984 T-bird, totally missed the back plug. then put 5 quarts in. luckily i checked the dip stick before starting the engine.
