electric fan safety
 

i was wondering what the least amount of wires i have to run to make my electric fan safe. i want it on a switch only. should i just run a fuse on the 12v wire and be done with it or do i need a diode to be safe. if so what size fuse?

If you want to be safe, you go with a relay, that eliminates high amperage wiring in your cab.
A fire waiting to happen. Relays are inexpensive and easy to wire. Dont cut corners on this, thats exactly how fires happen.

Forget that toggle while you're out driving around and TADA...over heat/headgasket done. Try looking at some of the fan kits available, I ran on a 30 amp relay for a while and hated having to turn the fan on and off all the time.

Autozone or any auto parts stores carry them, you could go the route like dman and get a t-stat, and put an override switch in , Summit carries those I believe.

yeah i found one online it comes with a relay and a 180 off 195 off thermostat so im gunna get that and put the override switch in it
