Brake Booster Upgrade 89 GT
I have read a lot of stickies & all the info on this page - http://mjbobbitt.home.comcast.net/~mjbobbitt/ - thanks Matt90GT!!! That was great info!
I do have some questions still for anyone out there that can help me. Some posts have conflicting information in them about what booster works the best for a 5 -lug 4-wheel disc brake conversion. The current setup is - Cobra - Front 13" rotors & Rear 11" rotors. I believe they are all SN95 parts - (I bought the car and it was already converted). Anyway, I am not currently running ANY MC or booster and it's completely manual braking...I do have the 89 GT stock MC & BB sitting in a box...
I understand that I can use a 93 cobra MC & BB or a 94-95 V6/V8 MC & BB...here's where the confusion and conflicting information start. Some people say that some work better than others - 93 cobra has the same bolt pattern as the 89 stock, but you need to hammer the strut tower? or the 94-95 SN95 works great, but you need to elongate the holes...other say that they didn't have to do any fabricating at all and it "slid" right in.
**Can somebody out in Mustang Land just answer me a few quick questions:
1. What is the best MC & Booster for my setup?
2. With that MC & Booster (from Q#1) will I have to hammer my strut tower? Elongate the holes? Fabricate anything ;-)? or will it "slide" right in?
3. With that MC & BB (from Q#1) do I need to buy any other parts - PV? Port converter?
any help would greatly appreciated. I don't want to rush out and purchase something that will not work...and I would like to get ALL the necessary parts to do the job correctly - I love my stang and want to do it right! Thanks in advance!!!!
