Well i think that it is just mostly a cam and upgraded seals and valve spring retainers. a 302 and a 302HO look the same but have a difference of about 40-55 horses i think.

non HO motors only have like 15lb/hr injectors that are grey top,
non HO intake is on driver side,
non HO engines suck with the stock heads and cam.

HO came with bigger cam with 351 firing order
19lb/hr injectors
e7te truck heads
and I think the throttle body and mass air was a little bigger

and the HO sounds soooo much nicer, I think the cam is what gives the nice mustang sound.
no other regular 5.0 engine sounds like a mustang.
at least not one I've heard.

Notice on our engines the intake hangs over the right valve cover, on the 5.0 NON HO engines, the intake hangs over the left valve cover (when looking head on with the car)

I don't know of any car that sounds like a Mustang GT period, 5.0 or 4.6

I can hear a car accelerate and know if it is a Ford or GM car...V8 that is.
