RE: DOES 5.0HO MEAN THE ENGINE IS ANY DIFFERENT?
The HO actually started in '83, with the 4BBL carb. Roller block were introduced in '85. SEFI was introduced in '86 with the turbo junk heads and forged, flat top pistons, making a 9.2:1 CR. 87-92 had reliefs making 9:1 CR, had E7 heads, then in '93, went to hyperteutic pistons. 86-93, mayb even 94-95, had the same camshaft.
Regular 5.0 specs depends on the application. LTDs and Marquies grossed 150hp while still making 300ftlb of torque.

in 1993 Ford changed the way it rated horsepower. there was no actual decrease in horsepower or torque, it was just ford's new rating system. the 1993 5.0HO was rated at 205hp and 275lb/ft. from 87-92 HO engines in the Mustang's were rated at 225hp and 300lb/ft. these same 5.0HO engines were put in the Lincoln Mark VII from 87-92. The non HO 5.0 engines were used in the Thunderbird's and Cougar's for the 87/88 years, but were rated at a measly 155hp. 5.0HO were also put in the v8 versions of the 91-93 Tbirds/Cougars and were rated at 200hp and 275lb/ft. The 5.0HO in the 94/95 GT's were at 215hp/285lb/ft.

what makes a 5.0 in 87-93 cars is the 351 fireing order or when ever it started and the cam, thats what makes it sound so good, other 5.0 and 4.6 sound good to but not like the 351 fireing order, also some 92 stangs had the hyperteutic pistons, and the cam profile change almost ever year, but the highest out put years were 87-88 they were rated 225hp and 300lb ft but it was more that that by about 15 or so hp.
