They say my axles are bad...WTF?
 

I went to the tranny shop and they check the clearences between the gears, the gears are fine and they have the correct backlash. But they said whats causing the clunking is I have bad axles. i thought the only way to have bad axles is to break them. How can I have bad axles?I checked while they had it on the lift and the axles are loose or something wrong with them, cause they are causing the clunking.what could be the problem with the axles? any one else ever have this problem.

ya wierd i dunno bit i have some superier axles there four lug 28 spline i did a 5 lug swap so there just chillin i'll sell cheap.

axles are hard to mess up make sure thats the problem

I have seen them bent or pitted and wipe out the seal but thats about it.Never seen something wrong on the inside.

the seals and bearing go bad and it eats the shafts up..making them lose

thats kinda weired, so the clunking nose comes from the rear right? about the only thing that would make noise in the rear is pinon play is to great. i dont think somthing is wrong with you axels, when an axel is bent the car just wobbles and hops in the rear that about it.

dudes, I have this clunking noise, well Im buying axels/diff soon anyways, so its good to know. When I back up and hit bumps going out of my drive way I hear clunking back and forth, from reading this, 90% likely my axel bearings are bad. Well more the reason to get some mosers in there.

well its good you are getting new alxes and i hope thats fixes the problem
