get a dart for 2100-2300. good for upto 1800hp. my new motor is using the dart block. cant beat the price

We run a R-Block and run it on the street all the time with no problems at all. That is a BS story. I know of people that use the R-Block for road racing also. Just run a good cooling system. 1500 is a good deal for the block yes. It will need decked it will need final bored and it may need align bored. the lifter bores will need honed also. I did my own with a brake bead hone worked well. It will take more then 1000hp I have seen them in outlaw cars and there was one in a pro 5.0 car for awhile.

offer him 1200 or even 1100 all he can say is no. but don't forget you will be putting a good bit more in it with machine work. I sent a 1540 for mine years ago and it was a deal then then 1100 more to get it all done to build but that did get the assy. balanced also.

$1,500 is too much.

You can get a brand new Boss 302 block, that replaced R302, for $1,600 from 50resto
and probably cheaper if you hunt around.

ya with all the machine work if you do the assembly your self your going to be lookin at 1,100 or more, assembly is ussually about $700-800 on top of that.
