Default Limited Slip vrs Locker?

I just got my new 3.73's in and its going to be about a month befor they are installed. My mechanic asked me if I would be interested in getting a Locker put in while he has everything open but I have heard that for a daily driver it's not a good idea and with my minor bolt ons the limited slip would be enough to give me the traction I need to get the times I want. Any input would be nice...Thanks.

don't buy the locker. The only time you would want your posi locked is at the track. If you go around a corner, and the wheels are locked up, then one cannot turn faster than the other, and you will wear tires fast.

First of all what mods do you have, how much power are you putting down and what are the intentions for the car?

yep a locker is for a trailer Queen at the track, but there are lockers out there that can be disengaged for the street, see the Ox locker or ARB lockers use air to engage, just depends on what you have in mind for the car in the future and how much money you want to spend! Good Luck!

The Auburn lockers work great on the street and at the track. I have one on my 66 and a spool on my 90GT. No trailer queens either.

no to the locker but yes to this... i did alot of research on my rear end to drive really smooth on the street but lock on the track... the best way is to buy an extra set or clutches and bearings and re order them... what it does it it makes it stiffer and harder to slip when going straight but when ur turning it smoothly switches the power to one side... its worked perfect for me and my neighbor.. he runs 11.4s on motor with this rear end set up before he gave it to me and it never failed and now that i drive it on the road everyday its still works perfect...pm me if your interested in the web site that tells you what order to put it in
