have a 91 5.0 aod with 30k miles on car. have a grinding noise coming from the rear pumpkin. was planning on putting in 373 gears, problem is now what else do i have to replace? checked the fluid in rear and had metal fragments in it.

so pull it apart and inspect wheel beaings and all carier and pinion bearings

when you do new gears you wanna replace the bearings anyway so get yourself a bearing kit shims and all that good stuff new trac lock clutches spider gears and you should be set
