Just slide the travel restrictor over the shaft, and you're done.

I see so the shaft has to removed in order to slide the restricter over it correct? Cant just leave it all together peel the boot back and pop on the restricter?

What about running tubular lowe rcontrol arms? Would that eliminate the rub? My convertible has the same problem....

i dont know why everyone has rubbing problems. maybe there is a difference with pre 93 cars. i had 17x9s the whole way around mine with 245/45 when it was still a 4 lug car and i never rubbed.

The travel restrictors/rack limiters are made of plastic or nylon (or both) so that there flexible enough so that you can just slip it over the shaft. There is no reason to anything… they just slip on.
This might give you a better idea of what they actually look like.

All you need to do is block the rear tires so that the car can’t roll, jacked up the front end high enough so to you can work on the steering rack, remove the metal band holding the bellows (rubber boot), slide the bellows toward the outside wheel so that you can see the shaft, take a travel restrictor/rack limiter and with the open end slip it over the shaft, slide the bellows back to the steering rack tight end the metal band.. Now do the same thing to the other side. The hardest part of the whole project is jacking up the car, that’s how easy it is. If you spend more than 5 mins removing the band and bellows and installing the travel restrictor/rack limiters you’ve fallen asleep under the car.

More than likely you’ll find that you already have 1 travel restrictor/rack limiter on each side right now, leave those and just add another 1 per side.
