Default GT-40 BOX InTaKeS

What do you guys think of a box intake(i.e. downs, holcomb, etc.)on my setup below. Pros? and Cons? i have not seen much in the way of dyno comparisson or track testing vrs other big intakes such as the victor 5.0, trrickflow, systemax, etc. Any feedback ( well educated feedback that is) would be greatly appriciated.

box intakes are usually better for boosted applications. it will probably kill your bottom end, and idk if the top end gains will be enough to make up for the loss. intakes on fuel injected cars have longer runners for a reason, it creates torque, a big box of air with short runners will flow more air, making more high end hp, but a lot less torque

I understand that part of it but this car does not see a lot of street dudy. Most of its life is spent at the strip.. So with that being said... I was just mainly looking for rpm range and power gains or if i should switch manifold set ups and the pros cons with staying gt40 with the box...

im thinking i saw somewhere that the box intakes make power like, 4500RPM up.....the gt40's start makin power areoun 1500 i think and drop off around 5500, how high do you spin your motor? Im not 100% on those figures, but the box intakes dont really do squat until really high rpms, they are designed for cars with a really high stall converter that launch in the powerband

Once on the dyno i will figure all that out.. Until then i am stuck with the factory limiter.. The heads and cam should be good up to 7000rpm ( like 6500-7000).. At the moment i am leaving the line between 5000 and 5500rpm...

Wish I could help, but all I have heard about box intakes is leave tehm to big cubic inch/high revving, or boosted motors. I dont think your setup warrants the need for one, but try it out. At least they look awesome, and you can get both your valve covers off without having to take off the intake!

I like mine & my heads are nothing special, car flys off the lineno problem withlower end torque & makes great HP over 4 grand.
But the fox body superstars will disagree with usingbox intakes on NA cars because thats the rap.

I use a Comp Cams Polymers Powerbox on top of a heavily ported GT40 intake. Geranted this is on a 10.5:1 347 stroker with AFR 185 heads, but hey, it rocks, no power slumps here.
