Default difference between 1983 and 87-93 engines.

Whats the difference (besides efi vs carb) between the engines. Can heads and cams off a newer one work on the old carb engines. Thanks.

Default RE: difference between 1983 and 87-93 engines.

heads are interchangable......cams are not....pre 85 = non roller cam = flat tappet.....85 5 speed gt's and up = roller cam ......so the blocks are different in the two applications
