Default Pilot Bearing During Clutch Swap

I am in the middle of swapping out my clutch for a new OEM spec clutch on my '85 GT vert. The car is a cruiser only so I didn't opt to go to a 10.5 this time around. I have the flywheel out to get it resurfaced and was wondering do I need to replace the pilot bearing too (thats the bearing at the end of the crankshaft correct [&:]). The car only has 40k on the clock so was thinking it should be fine.

If you think I should replace it, what is the trick to getting the old one out?

It wouldnt hurt to change it out while you are down there, when I did mine I rented a bearing puller from the auto parts store.

I would not put a clutch in without changing it.

its either $10 now, and change it.... or hours of down time and possible damage if it goes bad after you are done!

I'd absolutely do it while you have the trans down and are replacing the clutch anyway.

No reason not to.

Thanks for the advice. I will change it and borrow a puller from one of my club members.
