Default fuel issue

ok I have read alittle on my problem.

My car would run for maybe a min and then die then it would either not start or do the same thing over again. I couldn't drive it so I started saving for parts. now when I try to start it, it wont even hum(power up) I just ordered a new pump because mine is a stock 18 year old one.
What could be causing this?

William

It's worth checking the fuel pump relay. I'm not sure, but it should either be under the drivers seat, or in the engine bay on the passenger side strut tower/area. I can't remember which year is where. Sometimes they'll work, then heat up and shut off, cool down and work again. Just an easy thing to check before you pull the pump.

so why don't you do a fuel pressure test by getting a gauge and tap of the schredor valve on the fuel rail...it's not rocket science ya' know........after that go back to the connector on the tank and check power and ground.. it should light up briefly when switched on ..if it does.. system is okay and if you have no fuel pressure then it's bad pump

Or the poor man's approach to this test. Turn the key on, then off, and use a screw driver to push the center of the shrader valve in. Use a rag to catch any gas that comes out while you push.
