Running too cool

Running too cool
I have a 93 gt that is running way too cool. Mods to my cooling consist of steel flex fan, cheap reman'd water pump, and a 180* tstat. I'm going to try a hotter tstat but I don't think it's going to fix it. It barely climbs over 130 most of the time. Where does your gauge usually sit for you fox guys? I thought my tstat was sticking open at first but I replaced it and nothing changed. Any ideas? My engine is mostly stock....bcam, headers, and a throttle body. I'm getting sick of **** fuel economy and the loss of power.

RE: Running too cool
with a 180 stat mine ran right at 180......are you sure your gauge is accurate?.. I'd use a infared ray gun if you have access to such and take temp readings at various points on the cooling system to verify temp reading accuracy

RE: Running too cool
Yeah, I'm sure it's too cool. I can stick my finger into the radiator after driving the car for a long time and the coolant is hot but not enough to burn me. It's also def in open loop, my economy sucks and I can smell unburnt gas from my exhaust..it's running pretty rich. I wish it was just the gauge. I talked to a mechanic and he said my flex fan is moving too much air. I'm pretty sure he was wrong. I just thought maybe I was overlooking something.
