exhaust under axles

RE: exhaust under axles
I don't know about the Fox bodies, but it's possible on the sn95s because that's how Ford did the exhaust on IRS-equipped Cobras. The reason for that though was because there wasn't any room to go over the axles (or halfshafts in this case). Unless you have IRS I don't think there's any point to going under the axle though.

RE: exhaust under axles
it was more a matter of convenience. The object was to build a 300hp car for under $2000. I went with a turbo 2.3 engine because when I hit my goal i'll have a gas mileage car. And since 300hp is a cheap & easy task for the 2.3T engines I decided to use it.

RE: exhaust under axles
I don't know why people say it will hit.....if you hung it really close to the axle you will be fine since the tires will go over the bump also and keep the pipe off the ground. Not saying it is a good idea, but how many people have hit the pig on the ground due to speed bumps.....but if you try and lift you car with a lift and let the axle hang, you will be setting right on the exhaust. They can do it with the independent rears since the center pig doesn't move.

RE: exhaust under axles
I don't intend on doing it anymore. I wanted to steer clear of it for cost being the main thing. Mandrel bends aren't the cheapest thing & having to measure the radius of the bend I need. Just a little hassle. I'd rather not have the bends in this case anyway because of turbo's not being very bend friendly. THe less there were, the better. I think I can live with it though.
