proffesional products intake? good or not

Thinking strongly about getting a proffesional products upper/lower intake about 300 bucks plus shipping is this worth it i know its a knock off edelbrock ive heard good and ive heard very bad about this intake though should i just pay double and get a better one or what

if anyone has this intake let me know your opinion

oh and by the way i was looking for a gt40 off of an explorer because of the price but the cheapest i can find is 225 plus shipping from a junkyard
so if they are that much why not get aftermarket

the typhoon intake is a good intake! i had one on my car and i liked it a lot.. for the price it is good.. you just got to clean up the runners a little bit. i never did and i noticed a gain, and if i where to clean it up im sure i would have had a little more hp.

If you're worried about the cheap quality and money is an issue you could always purchase a used name brand intake.

I don't know if it's any good or not but I'm not a fan of putting anythingmade in Chinaon my Made in America Mustang. Get an Edelbrock or Ford Racing intake. You usually get what you pay for....

No complaints with mine either and noticeable gains over the stock intake. Only bitch was getting those fuel rails mounted.

Actullay, a GT40 intake has the most powerfull midrange punch for the buck compared to Edelbrock, Professional Products and Trickflow's.

but its done at 5500...the PP, Eddy, and TF (track heat) all have power bands up to 6500

RE: proffesional products intake? good or not

yeah , it is done at at very high rpm,s, so if you want something past 5500 rpms,

then get the cam, heads and intake to match that.

In the city, I take my guys down in the mid range to 5500 , then I shut down.

Now, you dont want that power to cut out in the 1/4 at 5500 rpm and effect your ET, so a GT-40 would not be good for you in this situation.

obviously, but what i was saying is that the cobra/gt-40 intakes only have powerbands up to 5500...while the other three i listed all have powerbands up to 6500

the GT-40 only is good up to 5200-5500 rpm .:(, Id port mine, but stock yeah they are.

The 1/4 mile, you need to pull to 6k+ most of the time and that where the others work better

exactly, thats all i was saying..i just wanted to make sure the OP knew that it crapped out by 5500 rpms

I have a PP manifold on my 351 and i love it. Big power gain all the way to the rev limiter. I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

RE: proffesional products intake? good or not

ACTUALLY WAY BETTER, LOOK AT THE DYNOS,

is like a 40 RWHP DIFFERENCE AFTER 5500 RPMS.

But to be truthfull, the 302 like's HIGH RPMS. With Big Heads, CAM and Appropiate Intake, at 6500, youll be putting down big block times in the quarter.

ive taken my stock engine with the typhoon intake and went up to 7k (stupid i know, but i didnt have a rev limiter) and it pulled all the way. but its a good intake for the money. i think the one nice feature (even though i havent taken it off) is the side cover on the upper comes off. that will allow easier porting.

aode08 02-26-2008 05:22 PM

RE: proffesional products intake? good or not

you should port.

The ports dont line up perfect, just put on the gasket as a template and smooth the rough cast to match the gasket.

This is another reason, they cost less.
