I've been wanting to get a cam for a while now... but I don't have the money to get the full h/c/i.So, I was going to buy it piece by piece. I wanted somethin that sounds like the E cam, but in the flat tappet version. Is there a cam like that? What would I need to install it so it runs good, pushrods, valve springs, etc? thanks!

Buy the camshaft last, since you are going piece by piece.

This way, you know you are getting a camshaft to match your combination.

if your buying flat tappet stuff match up the edelbrock performer rpm kit = heads cam and intake......rpm intake, performer rpm heads and rpm cam = .499/.520 lift I believe.....has nice mild lope and performs well

Well, I heard that the flat tappet cams in the 83 mustangs sucked so thats why i was going to upgrade it now, and then match the heads with it later.

does anyone know how the e cam sounds, im looking to do my cam and want a rough idle sound... can you tell a difference between the stock cam?

E cam definitely has a nice lope sound.
