I was driving back down to school, stopped for some food, and when I tried to start the car back up it wouldn't start. I turned the key, the fuel pump primed, and then I turned the key the rest of the way and everything went dead (nothing electrical worked). I got out, took the battery cables off and put them back on, and then the car started. Well I got home and now I can't get the car to start at all. I turn the key and everything works until I turn the key all the way and then everything goes dead. And it stays dead until I take the cables off the battery and put them back on. If I try to start it again the exact same thing happens. The positive cable wire was getting pretty brittle so I replaced it but it didn't fix the problem. This same thing happened like a year ago this time but after messing with the calbes for a second it worked just fine pretty much up until now. The starter has started going out (sometimes I have to turn the key a few times to get it to turn the engine over) but that would have nothing to do with this, right? Any help will be greatly appreciated! I have a stock 91 GT...

Check your grounds and load test the battery.

Hey, thanks for the reply! Is there by chance a way to test the grounds otherthan visual inspection? If so, how?

not really.

also, make sure you dont have those ****ty replacement battery terminals. those pieces of crap never last.
