depends on how much work the block needs to make it strait and true
the 306 i just got done building the block neede a lot of work the normal bore and hone cam bearings,tanked,magnfluxed,was like 350 i think. but i also had to main line bore it and they had to deck it to get it nice a and flat that was another300 bucks .then i had the stock rods installed arp bolts,resized the rods and shot peened,another 150,also hang my new pistons and had them gap the rings another125, as you see it gets expensive i had a total of 1400 in machine work as i had my valve springs swapped out and i forgot with new pistons,balancer,billet flywheel u will have to balance as i did another 225.

when it's all said and done right you could spend any where from 250.00 to 500.00....depending on what you need done..machine shop will tell you after careful checks and inspection of it
