Default replacing camshaft

I just got ahold of a 95 GT and was thinking about trying to give it a little extra under the hood. Right now all I'm thinking about doing is replacing the stock camshaft, exhaust system, adding a cold air intake, and throwing either 3.73 or 3.90 gears under the rear end. Does anyone have any suggestions on which specific parts to get? Also if I replace the cam am I going to necessarily replace the headers and valve springs? I was looking at a Trickflow Stage 1 Cam.

I had a Trick flow stage 1 on stock valve springs on my last car it did just fine
If i were you and you wanted some extra power but didnt have a whole lot of money i would do
TFS stage 1 cam
for the money i would go ahead and get a C&l 76mm w/inlet pipe its not much more that a cai and will help alot more
and it would help alot more if you go ahead and put headerson it with the bigger cam i would do bbk lt's and off road x
And if you have any money left over do an upper/lower intake to really help it breath the stock intake is junk
I would say if you did all those it would jump the horsepower up approx. 40-50 hp and you still will not have much in it because of the stock heads

The gears are a great idea. You will not see a 50 hp increase in what you plan on doing to the car, dont be mislead. With a cold air intake you'll be wasting money unless you get if for very cheap. I know you did not ask but i would not bother with the cam, it's not needed with stock heads. Intake would be ok since it's easy to install and you can alway's use it later when you build the engine. I cant knock all C&L MA's but my experience has not been good. Exhaust is always a good idea, and of course it will sound nice. Use the money you were going to spend on the cam and get some control arms and sub-frame connectors.

fast black has some good points. but fo rjust myself. if my car isnt fast i want it to sound really good. i have a trick flow stage 1 cam in my 66 mustang right now and never liked it better.. i have the stock heads with stock springs, and it sounds awsome. i also have long tubes but i would go with long tubes on a 94-95. i'd put some nice shorties with exhaust, if you have a little money to play with. an upper and lower intake, with a TB would open your car up quite a bit.. and when you want to rebuild you rmotor.. you can put them both right back on,.. personally i love aftermarket cams, not just for performance,.. but the nice lope =] thats just me .02cents ;]

cam change = valvetrain upgrade!! you may think your fine but gauranteed you don't reach full rpm potential before valves flutter.. been there done that with an e-cam...either way a cam swap without heads and intake is a waste for a stock motor

I agree with not doing the cam, it's a waste of money. if you want your car to sound good get a catback and midpipe. Gears, subframe connectors, lower control arms, exhaust and tires are probably the best things to spend money on off the bat. Cam should be saved for when you do heads.

I forgot to mention the car already has an aftermarket suspension I am completely satisfied with, and also has two sets of wheels I'm not sure of. I also forgot to mention I am currently in Iraq so its not very easy to go out and look under the hood. I am just talking about upgrading to get power to the wheels.

you can do a really nice head/cam/intake for less than that.
