ORIGINAL: Hollister Hoodlum

Well after a new cap and rotar, new plugs, and a new coil.....and 5 trips to advance auto for wrong parts, i think i found the problem.

A inline fuelfilter that i bought from advance that was supposed to be "better" than the glass one it originally had, it had a huge whole torn in the paper, and had clumped up, and i think it blocked the carb, after spraying a bunch of carb cleaner and starter fluid it fired up, but i need to get a new filter cause the glass one is leaking like a waterfall all over the headers. Im not very happy cause the filter i bought is mabey 4 weeks old.

I really would like thank everybody that helped me out, and for all the tips i receieved.

Thanks a lot guys!!
WERE you spraying starting fluid directly into the carb openings??? cause it should of fired up briefly..either you weren't spraying enough or you were spraying it into the filter..cause no ifs ands or buts it should of fired up briefly..cause it seems as if it was a fuel prob[&:]

so when you had it running earlier did it run and idle for an extended time??? sounds like you need to narrow it down to spark or fuel and perform accurate tests so you aren't hopping around and troubleshooting the wrong system

yea, i have spark so im pretty sure that isnt a problem....

i noticed the fuel filter had a huge tear in it, so i put on my old one that doesnt have a filter in it.... and it started... but i had to turn it off cause fuel was pouring out of the inline filter on my headers becuase its got a crappy seal, so i went out and purchased a new inline fuel fiter, and tried starting it again, but nothing happend...

When it started it started because i sprayed the ether into the carb and had my brother turn it over as i was spraying... it smoked really bad, but my brother isn't home right now so i can't crank/spray at the same time.

It ran fine for the 20 seconds it ran.... it smoked a little, but that was it...

well if there was a tear in the filter.. you need to undo the line from the carb and crank it and pump it into a bucket to observe volume.. after that if the carb bowls are try.. then either a float is stuck or crap is plugged in the carb needle and seat
