Default AOD Troubles

I actually have a '68 Mustang but I installed a 5.0EFI and an AOD trans from a 1990 Mustang. I had the transmission rebuilt before I put it in. It only has about 10K miles on it but in the morning, when it is cold it seems to slip out of gear. I pull out of my driveway and when I get to the stop sign the car seems to downshift and go into neutral. When I hit the gas it free revs for just a second and then pops back into gear and takes off. It only happens once in the morning and it only happens when it is cold. Later in the day even if it has been sitting for several hours, it doesn't have any poblems. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this the beginning of something bad? I dont have a shift kit in it. I adjusted the TV cable as described in the Chilton manual(without a gauge).
Also, am I right in thinking that the 4th/OD gear is permanently locked? Is there anyway to make it shift into OD at a higher speed?

Thanks

Default RE: AOD Troubles

your tv pressure is too low! When I set my AOD in my 67 many years ago it did the same thing till I adjusted it properly. Do not drive the car anymore! take it to a place that does the rebuilds and have them set you pressure with a guage.

If you want to take you chances then un-snap the clip and give it more preload (1/8-1/4"). drive it around and it should move up the shift points and firmness.

good luck
