Default HELP...with header bolts

Okay I am attempting to install some summit shorties. Now the problem is the bolts they sent are a bitch to put in. I got the passenger side but the driver side has me frustrated. I cam upstairs to cool off and figured i would ask about this. Are there any actual studs that will fit with the new headers cause the space for a bolt head is very limited. I also thought about using some way longer bolts and sliding spacers on them. Kinda link sway bar link bolts. Any thing to help please.

ARP makes studs real nice ones that you thread into the heads then slidr the headers over them and put a nut on the studs tighten down and your done. I installed headers on my car too one tip is to get some nice gaskets either copper or those crush aluminum ones the paper ones most of the headers come with kinda suck. Mine blew out within the first month, I drive the car pretty hard though. Good luck!!

I see studs everywhere, but will the nuts fit with the extra diameter of the headers? i am worried about the nut clearance.

you arent supposed to tighten them until you have them all in and finger tight.

put each one in loosely, then go from there

They should work, they make them specificly for aftermarket headers. You could always call to verify. Or just fight with the bolts you have till you get the damn things to work. I just used the bolts supplied in the kit it was a pain to thread them in, but you'll get it just take a break and go back with a cooler head. Maybe have a beer or two that helps sometimes lol.

All the bolts went in on the pass. side a pretty smoothly. They needed a little work but all was well. I will try these bolts that I have since they worked on the other side. Hell I just installed a Spec and it was my 1st time ever touching a mustang or SBF. These damn headers are harder than changing a clutch. Nonethe less tomorrow is a new day, but today I am done. Thank you for the help.

This is way harder than it should be. I will get some damn studs. Can "allthread" be used as studs?

Wrong my ***. I got the passenger on no prob, but this side is way harder cause I have half the room. No worries I will get some allthread or studs tomorrow. My main problem is fighting the gasket, that will be eliminated once I use studs.

Your having more trouble w/ the drivers side than the passenger side, I don't understand that... I just got done installing the exact same headers and some a few trouble but I didnt have the problem your having. Beside the fast that you don't have much space the bolts should screw rite in. You can't use a socket to tighten them all the way, you'll have to use the open side of a wrench and just turn each bolt slightly again and again...
