RE: 347 stroker

RE: 347 stroker
no, those numbers sound a bout right. as for the 347, all the oil problems have been fixed. it used to be an issue but not anymore. trust me. when something new comes out, its bound to have its flaws. u think companies are goin to keep there products ****ty for the rest of there life, no. thats why when the 347 first came out, yes they did burn oil like hell, but now that its been out for a while, engineers have been able to come up with a solution to this problem. so go ahead and call up a company and ask them if they got a kit that doesnt have any oil comsumption problems any more. ull be fine

RE: 347 stroker
Ya the 347 problem "has been fixed" or as one could say I guess, the problem was the way they made the pistons as the older pistons used to pretrude the bottom oil ring thus letting oil get by & be burned, your not planning on doing a 347 in a stock block are ya ?
I just took out, stripped & dropped my block off @ the machine shop today to do a 30 over 331 stroker to it, parts & labor $1,800.00 ;) |
RE: 347 stroker
1800.00 for parts and laboer..man thats cheap..what kind of parts..mine cost 2000.00 just for the roating assembley( hardcore kit) which is forged everything with h-beams

RE: 347 stroker
if you needed a block then it was foolish to go get a 302 and a stoker kit..a 351 would had been the way to go and stroke it to a 408..as for the 347 the oiling problem itn't fixed totally unless you use a custom piston....the oil control ring is still too close to the wrist pin...I would go this route only if you used a shorter rod and a longer piston this would cure any oiling issues. there are still tons of 351 in the JY

RE: 347 stroker
If I was gonna do the stroker, it would have been witht hte stock block-bored 30 over. I would have the block magnafluxed, the boring and honing, and the installation on the cam bearings from the machine shop. I would have done all other work myself.I was looking at a price of about 350 for machining and about 800 for the kit with forged i beam rods, cast crank, hypereutic pistons, rings and bearings (from propowerparts.com) Does this look like a decent price for the bottom end, or you think it would be cheaper to do a new fresh 302 long block with gt40 p heads for like 2 grand?

RE: 347 stroker
i would spend a little more on the stroker kit and get forged everything. I think on eBay you can get a Hawks racing kit for about 1200 or less. I have heard good things about Hawks
