Default front end noise on a 94 gt

the front end on my gt started to make a slight popping noise sometimes when i hit a bump or turn the wheel. The front end and suspension is still stock, how serious is it?

Check the balljoints! And yes it can be very serious if the ball disconnects from the socket.

Get the front wheels of the ground, place a prybar under the wheel and lift up checking for vertical play in the ball joint (anymore than 1/16" replace the joint), also grab the top and bottom of the wheel and see if there is any lateral play in joint (there should be none) by pulling on the bottom and pushing on the top and vice versa.
