i've got a 93 5.0 shortblock in my basement, and i've been doing to many hours of research to find what i want to do, but here it is i finally decided, here is my build thoughts and input will be greatly appreciated, also guesstimate on hp and tq is more than welcome. This will be a very slow build (1 year on the motor.........im having a baby thats why)

5.0 block

331 stroker (eagle kit)
i-beams
flat top pistons
205cc patriot heads.
custom cam ( .460+ lift, 225-235 duration)
P&P frpp cobra intake (if you can think of better please tell me)
electric water pump (need help here)
MSD ignition pro-billet dizzy
9mm MSD wires
flame thrower coil
deep sump 7qt oil pAN
OIL PUMP ( I NEED HELP HERE TOO)
custom headers
lightweight flywheel.

i think that covers it, i plan to be able to turn 7k -7.3k rpms at 25* of timing.

do yourself a huge favor and forget about patriot cylinder heads. What do you need to know about oil pumps?

1- There is no reasonnot to go with a 347 vs. a 331.
2- Patriot heads are junk, do some more research you will found out why. Personally, I would go with Canfields.
3- As for the intake, it is a choke point. Why run 205 heads with an intake that is just better than stock. Not to mention there has been alot of issues with the Cobra's quality (not the original).I personally like the Holley Systemax II.
4- Where are you getting the figures on the custom cam? Do you already have it? Then it must not be for this combo, because I can't see any cam grinder (who is worth their weight)not point you in a better dirrection.
5- Why do you need custom headers?
6- 25 deg timing? where does this come from?

If you are going to get a custom cam, I would contact Camshaft Innovations with your final plan. You will get one hell of a cam and he does package deals with heads already set up with the proper valve train for the cam. He will also be able to tell you what intake would be best with the cam package.

+1^^^^^^^^^^^^Intake is choking you out...cam ?? custom?? little on the small side for a 331 and heads??[&:]too big for small intake and cam choice.......rework combo!! = back to the drawing board!! a 185 cc head or 195 will be fine and a holley systemax intake ot a trick flow or edelbrock rpm II is a good choice as for cam..have it taylored to combo

im going to be turning 7k+rpms, i just read up on the RPM II and like it, ok no pat heads. why do i need custom headers, b/c i want them, its purely a vanity thing, yeah i read up on the cam ****, and the guy that told me that is a ****ing tard, so i will be going with my origional cam specs of a .500+ lift and close to a 240-250 duration....this one should work fine, why a 331, b/c i will be turning more rpms than i care to turn with a 347....if it turns out that i dont like this other cam, ill jsut have a guy here in town who is pretty renown in these parts to custom grind me one.....i really dont want to go carb'd i hate carb's easy to work on, but if i can stay away i am. what is the best oil pump?

A carb would work great for high rpm, but if you hate them/don't know how to tune them, that's cool. As far as an oil pump, high volume for that kind of rpm, a stock volume pump may not be able to keep up with flow demands turning that much rpm, so oil pressure could thin out up top. Melling M68HV. It'll work well with the 7qt pan/pickup. Might also want to get it with a higher pressure relief spring, but that's prolly not necessary. Definately get a windage tray for that kind of rpm though. A main girdle wouldn't hurt either with stroker + high rpm.

On a 331 at those rpm's with good parts, you'd prolly be better off with something along the lines of 750-825cfm.
