Well then you might see some gain...

At least on my older car (Grand Prix with 3100sfi) didn't see anything. 160hp stock.

Freeing up the EGR from coolant probably did cool it down but consider this. With the bypass you freed up another restriction caused by the added resistance from the EGR. You could have freed up some resistance causing the water pump to perform a little easier therefore less friction, therefore less power to turn water pump crank...more power.

Who know the real origin of that 5 hp...but if you said it works...then i will keep my opinion at a neutral than against.

it lowers the air temp going threw the plate.....just by passing the plate I don't do..the sensor plays a part as well

keep in mind 5hp isn't noticable by the seat of the pants feel..

Yep...considering 5hp out of 205 stock is only .5% increase. But if you like to nickel and dime then I guess it is a good thing,

Ok I just went out and bypassed them, very easy to do, didnt really feel a difference. but I rean the car for about 20 min to get it warmed up. when i got home I did notice everything from the begining of the CAI to the upper intake mainfold was way colder than the upper intake manifold. the upper intake manifold was pretty hot. I think ill get a 1in spacer so all the intake is cool.

yeah thats a long time just to warm up and do you have a aftermarket intake. My stock intake ran hot until i got a new intake from edelbrock and it runs a lot cooler now

check the hood clearance from the upper intake before you buy that spacer, you might not have enough room for a 1" thick spacer depending upon the motor mounts and model of intake you have.
