EGR plate and Coolant lines
Some guy that was talking to me about my car today said he has a 5.0 LX and a Thunderbird SC and was looking at my car and told me that I could dissconnect the coolant lines going to the EGR plate. He said I could block them off and basically dissconnect them and they are not needed any info? Any of you done this? I mean cooler air coming in if I do this some what not alot but is it worth it? Thanks Patrick

RE: EGR plate and Coolant lines
its like that on my car, the 2 lines are connected with a little piece of metal tubing now. i am not sure how muck performace you will gain but the motor going in the intake will be cooler since the hot *** coolant will no longer be passing through. its easy enough so you might as well try it. What can you lose?

those are there to help the engine warm up faster...you can do it with the EGR hooked up..but when you do it the check engine should come on..what I did was pull the coolant sensor out repalce it with a plug wrap the sensor in foil and leave it plugged up and lay it on the manifold..this way the engine thinks it's running cooler so it will be in partial closed loop to get it more fuel.

I was wondering about the same thing. My question is if i have all the other smog stuff on there, and I would like to take off those 2 hoses that go to the egr plate. But could I just cap off the 2 hoses? Im sure there will be a slight gain for the fact after driving 5 min my egr palte is hot as F*ck. so can I just block the 2 black hoses?

RE: EGR plate and Coolant lines
You can do a bypass but you will not see any performance increase. All you need is just to tie the intake hose with the outtake hose...bypassing the EGR.
Trust me...you won't notice a difference. I have gone through that whole ordeal with another car I used to own.
I would recommend just leaving it.

I dont get what he is saying, does he mean bypass the 2 hoses under neath the egr plate so they still will flow coolant through them? what do you use to reconnect the 2 black hoses together?any picts of it bypassed or drawing?
