i have a friend that has a 302 block sitting in another friends yard (redneck part store) but he told me i could have the heads off his 302 block sitting by the flowers. i have a 302 ho in my 89 lx what is the difference in the regular 302 and the 302 ho. would it make since to take these heads and what should i have done to them? money isn't really an issue can't spend more then like 1200 on them cause the wife would f-me up thanks for your input

Yep, I definitely would say so.

If you want heads, go with an aftermarket brand, like Edelbrock. New, would probably exceed your funds, but maybe get a good condition used one? But I think the stock valve covers will not fit, so you'll have to get new ones of those too...
