Exhaust Smell rich

I have a 91 LX 5.0, The motor is stock with a K&N, BBk equal length shorties, off road H-pipe (no cats), 40 series mufflers, bosch platinum spark plugs, MSD wires, underdrive pulleys. Is there any way that I can get the exhaust not to smell like it is running so rich. It is not blowing black so I know it is not that bad. Also some times the car sputter when I first start it up. Other than that it runs great. Thanks.

get rid of the bosch platinum plugs. they are garbage.

and you removed your cat's... its going to smell rich. Either deal with it, or put cats back on

RE: Exhaust Smell rich

Exactly! Cats burn the excess fuel no cats=unburnt fuel going through exhaust=rich smell. You can try tuning a bit, adust the timing, clean idle speed control module, adjust the tps, and clean mass air.

Another thing you can try is adding like an msd, or mallory igniton. This delivers hotter, multiple sparks to burn the fuel better. May help a bit.
