i cant beleive these heads
hey guys i can't beleive how fast guys are going on explorer/mountaineer p heads. ive met a lot of guys on this and other forums who are using these heads on stock 302's and runing in the low 12's. one guy in a notch ran a 12.01 on a stock shortblock with a stock cam and a explorer manifold. anyway im thinking about going this route and i was wondering if anyone had any advice of stories about encounters with these heads.
thanks matt

i already have aset i got for free from my buddy they just need a clean up. im starting to think that the right combo with these can go as quik as some of these guys with mismatched setups

i see guys going 1280s with trickflow heads & cam and other big money setups. it just seems like i could put moor $ into my susp and skip the big motor build up......and still goe as fast.

I have a set of them on my car and can tell you itruns strong when combined with the parts in my sig. No, it's not making AFR or twisted wedge headswith a nice cam power but it runs great for what it is. I also like the fact that to most people it looks stock.

You're not gonna run low 12's with a basically stock engine without some major suspension work, gutting etc. Don't expect to build a GT40p headed 5.0 and go out and whoop new Corvettes.

If you ship em to thumper, they will make them outpower and outflow AFR Heads for half the price.
It pisses me off companys charging us 4 times what it cost them to produce an aluminum head molding, both bare and assembled

RE: i cant beleive these heads
my coupe ran 12.80s on a stock motor with P heads and a few mods. i'm searching for another pair right now for my '95. the salvage yard here sells heads for $25 a piece with a $7 core. not a bad upgrade for $65 :] i'll never buy high dollar heads again
