yea deff get the haders and a x or h pipe...the cai doesnt do much, chip it...or fix some other small stupid things...have fun modding
And a chip is completely worthless and is a bigger waste of money than a "cai" is.

so i got a lil bit of cash to throw on the ol pony...since i'm completly stock except slp loudmouths i was thinking bbk cai,bbk shorty headers, pypes o/r x pipe.and a trickflow pro street intake mainfold.....or would you guys suggest?!....i wanna get it setup for a 347 stoker later down the road
The biggest single band for the buck in performance mods is a gear change. If your car is a five speed, I'd suggest a 3.73. IMO, a 4.10 is a bit too low for a street driven car. If it's an automatic, go with a 4.10. Depending on how many miles are on your car and how hard it's been flogged, you might find your factory limited slip differential is no longer limited slip. If that's the case, go with an Auburn or one of the aftermarket differentials rather than rebuilding the Ford unit. Surprisingly, you will find little adverse effect on gas mileage with a gear change. Below, I've posted a link to a good website that talks about gearing for Fox Mustangs.

Good luck with your mods. BTW, I agree with the comment about chips. IMO, worthless.

i don't understand why everyone insists 4.10s arent good for the street? i love 4.10s in daily driving situations.

because people that have to travel from place to place via the highway, dont like tacking 3000 rpm's at75-80 mph

I have 4.10's in my 86 5.0. I don't have a problem driving it daily on the highway. I had 3.55's before and it really wasn't that big of a difference to me. But I guess thats because I would rather race someone from a stop rather than rolling.

Gears for sure! CAI is a waste money. Drop the silencer and put a k&n cone on it. I'm not familiar with Cali emissions, we dont have to worry about that stuff, but if you can go with long tubes. A little more aggravating install but worth it IMO. Nix the chip, not needed. As far as the exhaust, go with what you like, we have an exhaust sticky. SFC if you dont have them and control arms also. I would get the car set up for the power you plan on having down the road and not even worry about an intake yet. Re-enforce your torque box's also, if nothing else at least weld them good as will as the SFC.
