Default Front suspension sagging.

Just got my 90 LX conv done and driving but the front suspension seemed overly rough. After driving it just a day the went I hit a bump the drivers side tire is scrubing the inner fender well. I don't know how old the struts are but if I replace them will that raise the front end up or do you think I will need new coils? Car has 77K original miles and was never beat up. It was sitting for 3-4 years.

The pics are before getting road tested....it seems the front end is sitting at least an inch lower now just after driving it half the day.

After you drive a car that hasn'thad any wieght in the front the car will settle down like yours did. What springs do you have on the car? What were you doing while you were working on the car. It looks great.

my 4 cylinder struts actually siezed up from sitting, when i removed them to do the v8 swap i couldnt push em down with all my 200 pounds on em, no wonder it rode like a dump truck! dont ask me how it happened, but it did.

They are factory springs. My brother owned the car and it was hit in the front. So for 3-4 years it sat while he waited to get paid for the accident. It did seem like it was sitting a little lower on the drivers side even before driving it. And it seemed really stiff....like there was almost no movement in the front end (like wrenchturner75 said his did). I think they may have siezed up and then when I drove it they colapsed down. The outter edge of the tire is the part that is scrubbing up in the fender well....so its not hitting the actual fender or anything.

I just order a new set of struts and will have them in this afternoon. Hopefully that will get me back up to the proper height....if not I will either have to get new coils or put some coil risers in it.

Heres a pic of my racing stripes while I was in the process of wetsanding the clear flat....I sprayed 13 coats of clear over 4 differentsessions of clear coating to get the stripes to bury.

If he was hit the frame may have gotten bent jsut enough to cause things to rub.

It wasn't hit hard enough for that fortunately. I just pulled the passenger side strut out...that thing has no rebound at all. I push it into a position and it just stays there...aren't they suppose to be like shocks and recoil to the full open position? lol When ijacked the car upthe wheel stayed up in the air...then when I went to impact thelugs off the wheel started to falldown to max out thesuspension. About another 15 minutes and the parts store should have my new struts in.

It was the struts.....Got the new ones in and it sits higher and actually handles the road without the sag and rough bouncing! Drove it all around this afternoon/evening....I love the power! The struts that were on it both were completely dead.....no return in either one of them.
