why waste 4grand for 75hp? put a 400doller bottle in it and be done with it.. 100shot will never hurt a 5.0 and if u got a million miles on it hell it might seal ur rings up a lil But honeslty I was told KB's heat up quick and arent really worth the money at all.. Ya you might have instant power but I dont think you will be happy with so little gain and alot of cash blowed.. NX Wet 100Shot

Ah i wouldnt worry too much about it, upgraded fuel system is a must. im running 400hp on my stock block at 8 psi for regular driving, 12psi for fun, only upgrades are fuel and a mild cam.

(because lets face it, for "crappy heads" there the best bang for your buck heads ive found, even almost after porting)

so how would i know if i have gt40 heads? what what type?

(all i know is to look at 971/2 and NEWER exploer v8's (right?)

whats a good price for junkyard heads...... (when i say good price i mean KILLER price)

Ebay your look like 2-300bucks forgt-40's.. Im not sure about the P's i think there about the same price. Just need to do some machine work on the P's.. But ya for the doller gt40 heads n intake combo cant beat it for a DD 3-350hp car Ive been doing tons of research on gt40 stuff for a while .. My little brother just bought a 87 5.0 SD car, were just gonna do a gt40 h/c and a small nitrous cam and run a 100shot wetwith all the normal bolt on's.. should get around 300hp..

I dont have experience in either , i was just sayign from what ive read.. And the 300hp was with a 100shot of nitrous full bolt on's and gt 40 heads and intake.. i mean im not exact on hp but just a range... and on the gt 40 P's dont you have to do machine work on the spark plug holes and somthin else but also heres a whole thread on it http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=521481 I think it is possible.. with full bolt ons and a nitrous kit..

ok sure, gt40 **** a good cam and a 100 shot your gonna look at 350 yes

and no no machine work needed on p's... differant headers needed though

the only machine work needed is if you run dual valve springs, then, and ford head will need this work done to accept dual springs

put it on and run it, everyone is so worried about a tune which is the biggest load of ****. kb makes their kits for a stock 5.0. just dont drive it really hard for like a week so the computer can adapt. youll be surprised on what the stock ecu is capable of.
Good way to damage your motor. This isn't a head swap we're talking about, the stock ECU does not know how to handle boost. Fuel, timing and spark curves are going to be way off regardless.
im sure the KB comes with a boost-a-pump, and the mass air meter will see the added airflow to the engine to compensate, as long as the fuel pressure regulator will raise with boost in a 1-1 ratio you will be ok.

I am saying this knowing that 9psi on a stock motor will make around 300rwhp which is at the limit of the stock 19# injectors.
now if the motor is highly modified (h/c/i blower, nitrous, stroker) then yes, you will need some tuning to get the timing and air-fuel ratio in check.

I am not saying I know it all or anything like that, I am just tired of everyone saying you MUST have the car tuned to make 300-400hp, because that is just plain wrong.
