Default reverse on my 5 speed

Hello all,I am having issues going into reverse with my 5 speed. I have a 91 gt and to go to reverse I have to shut the car off. Going into another gear first works only half the time. Is this a normal issue and can this be fixed? Thanks,Fairlee

Clutch is probably not fully disengaging.

How far off the carpet does it start to engage?

That is somewhat normal but should not be as bad as you explain. When your trying to get it in reverse ease off the clutch a little and see if it slips in gear.

Just in reverse I have to put the clutch right to the floor.

To fix this is it just a clutch cable adjustment?

How do you do this? Is it easy.

Thanks,

Fairlee

Look underneath car where cable attache's to the clutch fork and look for a couple nuts screwed onto a long bolt. If not then you dont have an adjustable cable. I'm assuming you still have the stock quadrant. I've read you can pull up on the pedal as far as it will go and the quadrant will adjust itself. An after market quad and firewall adjuster would be a nice improvement over stock.

I've read you can pull up on the pedal as far as it will go and the quadrant will adjust itself.

Tried it and didn't work.

I hope this is just the clutch cable. Sometimes I can get it in reverse easybut most sometimes I cannot without shutting the car off.

What do you guys think?
