Drag Suspension
So i have been told that the cheap way to a good drag launch is to use 4cyl springs up front and gt springs in the back and sub-frame connectors and strange struts and shocks. I also saw several people say take off the front sway bar. what does that do for you??
Just Curious |
RE: Drag Suspension
on my 88 i ran lakewood 90/10's up front with no sway bar and 4cly springs. out back i had lakewood 50/50's stock springs and southside bars

RE: Drag Suspension
Two advantage's of running the 1/4 without sway bar is weight and weight transfer.
|
RE: Drag Suspension
Removing the front swaybar allows the front end to lift faster, which increases weight transfer. Dont try taking any turns fast though.

RE: Drag Suspension
dimebags car.. stock motor, stock gear... 4cyl springs front, strange 10ways front, no front swaybar, stock rear suspension and drag radials
launched at 2k, slipping clutch, didnt drop it... http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r.../Adams_Car.jpg |
RE: Drag Suspension
yea.... thats my car... i guess its not bad for what it is... and was deffinatly cheaper then gettin the eibach kit or something
got the 4banger springs brand new btw... autozone ftw... 60 bucks for both. |
RE: Drag Suspension
Never knew about taking the sway bar off, is there a noticeable difference? and why 4cyl springs, sorry fellas im a suspension noob:D
|
RE: Drag Suspension
There can be a slight difference in et without swaybar. The four cylinder springs are used because they are a lighter spring that expand easier which allows more weight to be transferred to the rear wheels.
|
RE: Drag Suspension
Well it is not a daily driver at all so off comes the sway bar.
|
RE: Drag Suspension
Does taking the sway bar off affect the alignment?
|
RE: Drag Suspension
taking the sway bar off should not do anything into the alignment .but like stated above taking it off will allow alot more body roll .
as to the 4cyl springs i am wondering if they lower the car any. as i just posted a thread in the general dis. about my rear then im doing the front.well im runnin the trick springs in the rear and was told that there front springs are tall and actually lift the front as i do not want to. so who has run the 4cyl's (dimebag) what did it do to the front back to same height or did it lower it any ? really curious? thanks |
RE: Drag Suspension
where did everone go i would like to know the difference in height from the 4 cyl springs?
|
RE: Drag Suspension
hmm this sounds like an idea, after seeing the weight transfer on dime's car...
i was going to get strange shocks and struts, springs in rear and front and upper and lower adj. control arms...now the 10ways and 4cyl springs in front w/ the adj. control arms :) much cheaper lol |
RE: Drag Suspension
yea why spend the extra money? obviously 4cyl **** works just fine
no no height change for me, but i bought mine new, ive seen guys have the front sit lower, sometimes it looks great, other times its too much... its hit or miss w. used ones because well, their used and worn in... but new ones were like 60 bucks for both no swaybar... i dont know that that helped times, but it deffinatly helped weight transfer... i was short timing 2.02 all day w. this set up, which yea blows, but remember... stock gears... so when i took it off it didnt get any better, but i dont know if it could have w. stock gears... i think it was worth it tho yes |
