from what i've heard the stock gauges are not the most accurate... try hooking up a mechanical gauge and see what happens.
i'm not sure if the stock gauge is mechanical or electrical? anybody know? i'm also looking at getting a new oil pressure gauge...
otherwise... how's the oil level? any holes anywhere?

Ya, the same exact thing happened to me this week. It happened on my stock gauges so i installed a mechanical and it does the same things. The pressures high when it warms up, but then as it gest warm it drops to around 20ish when in driving, but hwne i stop it drops low to like 8-10ish. Are there a lot of milse on the engine, it just sort of sign for wear. I was told to try and put 20W30 oil in next time i do an oil change and see if the pressure rises any and that will show if the bearings are worn, so you might want to try that. Any input on that...?

A thicker oil will give you better oil pressure, but if there is a problem your just putting a band-aid on it.

Its a common problem for the 5.0 to develop grooves on the crankshaft after mileage, that put them on your bearings.

Having the crankshaft turned over.010 or .020+polished, then Installing the appropiate crank and rod bearings will cure this issue, providing you change your oil and keep it level.

Just installing new bearings with these grooves, will only put new grooves in the new bearings, and after just a few years, you may have the same issue.

Also, its a great idea, to blow out your pickup tube- you wil find rtv and other gunk in it.

Then a New Standard Volume Oil pump.
