JayAllen, he is a member here. But be forwarned dont waste his time untill you have the money. He is too busy and has too many customers to deal with tire kickers. I'm not saying he is rude cause he's not, he is a great guy to deal with.

oh yea i know i just want to get some info so when i come up with the cash i have an idea wat to look for

Nice to see someone doing heads/intake instead of JUST a cam. Of those 3 parts on a stock 5.0 the cam is the best, so upgrading heads and intake while keeping the stock cam will give you nice gains.

Summit and Jegs are two of the most popular places.

Who determines the RIGHT way to build a motor? There is more to it than just a custom cam. There is a guy who is making 800hp on an F-cam. Hell, my frind will be making 650 on his F-cam if he ever gets off his *** and gets his car running again. Im not disagreeing with you Jasper. A cam that is tailored to your setup WILL be the most efficient and make the most hp, but it is NOT a necessity to have a custom cam made. There are plenty of guys who are making 500+ hp on OTS cams. Its all about matching your setup correctly. The only downfall about using a custom cam is if you decide to change your setup, its not exactly easy to sell it to just anyone, as it was built for what you were using.

And yes, I plan to have a cam made for my 408 if/when get around to building it. Im not sure if I want to go through FTI, or CI though.

I see what your saying rajun. But imo when your building an engine it would be worth the little extra money for the piece of mind to know you definately have the right combo. Now if you are understand cam's and combo's to ahigh degree than you could probably to a good job of picking one out. But i'd rather leave it to the pro's cause i'm not one.

True that, I am no expert either. I agree that if you have the money to do aluminum heads and an intake, you might as well do a custom cam.

are you referring to a turbo car? i know the turbo guys seem to like that cam. is that even close comparison to what the op needs? IIRC the f cam isnt emissions friendly....
