fluid in manual shifter??
my shifter came loose while i was goin down the road, so i took it apart when i got home and just found that the bolts were loose. i think i'll be good to go as far as putting it back together. now my QUESTION is ::: there was some tranny fluid in the hole where the shift lever goes into the hole on the block. manual guys should know the hole i'm talkin about here. now, it was not a LOT of fluid, like not enough to go over the moving block in there or anything, so do i need to fill that with fluid?? i'll be putting it back together in a couple hours, (about 7pm central time) so any advice before then would be awesome. thanks all

RE: fluid in manual shifter??
manual 5 speed. i'm talking about the hole that the shift lever goes into, and the plate that the shift lever goes through covers this hole. 4 bolts hold this plate over it.

RE: fluid in manual shifter??
Just make sure that the plastic or nylon (whatever material it is) bushing is in place. The bushing sits in that block and then ball on the bottom of the shifter fits inside this bushing. No need to lube it. If there is no bushing, this will contribute to a sloppy shifter. Just make sure the tranny is full by pulling the fill plug and sticking your finger in. If you get fluid on your finger or it runs out of the hole, your tranny is full.
