Default OIL PRESSURE FLUCTUATION

Can anyone help? I have a 87 GT with a GT-40 crate. Oil pressure has started to fluctuate at cruising speed/rpm. Stays steady at idle. Still using stock gauges (needle normally right in the middle, but now drops down and then rises). Suspect sending unit, but want to know if anyone has any other explanations.

Pickup may be sucking on bottom of pan due to not enough clearance...
May be sucking pan dry due to slow drainback or high vol pump exceeding capacity...

i had that problem in my stock 95 gt, it was the sending unit. i had checked the engine with a pressure gauge and all that, it was all good.

do yourself a favor and install an aftermarket mechanical guage in the cockpit and never look back.

Ford still has these problems, even in their newer vehicles...

Yeah you need to hook up a good gauge either mechanical or electric to verify the fluctuation.
