Default Mass Airflow Sensor?

I just ordered a bbk cold air intake. Just now I read in a magazine that if your going to install a cold air intake, a Mass Airflow Sensor should be installed with it help the computer keep up w/ the increased airflow. Do I have to buy this? Is it a necessity? I mean their pretty expensive at over $200. What do you guys think? Its a pretty much stock daily driver w/ flowmasters, eibach lowering springs, and soon to be installed shorty headers. Thanks

I had the same exact setup on my 1990 5.0. Mine ran great with the stock mass air sensor. I say run it without.

mine (bbk) was on the car for years with stock mass air problems. there are mass air meters that are specially calibrated for coldair intakes but there not a must. the sheet i got with my mass air said that the coldair tuning was supposed to help because of the way the air tumbles due to the elbowor something along those lines.

if you do by a mass air meter which i wouldnt really i dont really think would be worth itwhen theres better places to spend the money, you may haveto alteryour cold air intake because some of the aftermarket ones are longer.
