Default need a quick answer on exhaust question*FIXED?*

hey guys, got a wiked exhaust leak, and after trying for about an hour, i cant seem to fix it.**REMEMBER IM AT 5300FT elevation!!!**

stock headers, bbk Hpipe, OLD flowmaster mis-mached cat back.

99% of the lead is from where the o/r h pipe hooks into the BS flow masters (worse welds ive ever seen on this cat back, and little holes ALL OVER the thing)

it just seems like the BBK doesent seat right with it, when i first instaled it, it was perfect, untill after i got home (did it at a buddys place, about 20miles away)

now its just horrible, car acts goffy.

IE
i have 2.73 gears, so at 60mph, im at about 1200-1300RPM.
sometimes will just start jerking, and hoppin around all goofy.... i drop the AOD into "D" and let the revs come up for alittle bit, and the back to OD, and its fine again.......

idle is fine sometimes, but most the time it barley stays alive.

ive linked it to the exhaust, becase the car never did any of this before it.

so what is it?

5300ft elevation + no back pressure from O/R H pipe = running like crap?

horrible exhaust leak the real problem?

still using the old O2 sensor and need to change it?

im really lost, and i know a exhaust shop that could fix it all, but i want some advice before i go blow a bunch of money.

thanks

Check the bolts that go from the H pipe to the headers, you more than likely have a leak here freaking out the O2's, good luck.

ill try that as soon as i leave here in about an hour, and ill get back to you about that.

i really dont think its at the headers, but it would explain alot.

My guess is your leak is before the O2's, trust me this will cause computer related issues, bucking etc.

ok guys, sorry for the super late reply....

i dont hear any leaks in the engine bay, but the leads from the midpype to the catback (or axle back w/e you call it) is so obnoxious, that is all you hear.

it car ran a little better today, but i drove to work faster then i normally do, about 65mph and 1400rpm.
seems from 1400rpm up, im fine, but any crusing underthat most the time causes surging.....

im just trying to link this to something.
i have not changed the fuel filter sence i got that car..... could this be doing it?
(do i need any special tools to change a fuel filter?)

at most, a 3/8 fuel line tool will be needed, if not just a flat head screw driver for the fuel filter.
if the header gasket blew, it would sound like a horrible rocker tap, its loud and annoying.
if the leak is before the 02's, which would be header and midpipe connection, it would run rich.
take the exhaust down, put it back up and rebolt it on, see if it helps, then replace fuel filter. 15k miles the filter needs to be changed. also the maf(mass air flow meter), iat (intake air temp sensor), iac(idle air control valve), if they are dirty, bucking and idle issues can arouse.

well heres a update.

thanks to this GREAT site, i ran a search and found a buch a guys complaining about idle, but no bucking (prob becase i have 2.73's so my rev's are real low, therefor bucking)

well read up on the "IAC, and MAF" cleaning...

went out and did that this morning, along with reseting the IAC, and setting the idle to 600rpm.

the IAC was horrible, it was so dirty, i almost just went and got a new one, but it cleaned up pretty good, so i slaped it back on.
(next time i clean the BBK CAI, im going to buy a new IAC, as im sure thats how it got so bad)
the MAF sensor its self was clean, but the MAF housing was dirty, so i cleaned that too.

well after everything, did the "drive 20min so your computer learns" thing, and not a single problem! i even got it into top gear at 55mph, whitch is about 1100rpm, and is was SMOOTH

well got home, and looked under the car.
ifound 2 BAD exhaust leaks (holes in cat back) and then 2 others, but they where tiny.

sprayed some rust eatter/preventer on it, let it sit, then used a pop cans and some exhaust wrap.

havent drove the car, but when i was letting it idle to get the wraps warm, it wasnet a TON quieter, but it was quieter......
(seems theres a bad leak where the BBK o/r H pipe's H is...(where the C clamp is, have to fix this too, prob tommarow)

so im letting the car sit for an hour, then ill go drive it real calm, and see how it works out!

hope this helps someone
